Create expressive, in-camera movement style images using Photoshop’s Blur Gallery—while staying in control of detail, depth, and realism.
When to use Blur Gallery vs Lens Blur vs Motion Blur (and what each is best for) Understanding the Blur Gallery workspace: pins, on-canvas controls, preview, and non-destructive setup with Smart Objects Field Blur (beyond the basics): building depth with multiple pins, smooth transitions, and keeping key detail sharp Iris Blur: creating believable shallow depth of field, reshaping the focus area, and fine-tuning falloff for a natural lens look Motion-style creativity: using directional blur thoughtfully to suggest movement and energy (without “over-blurring”) Advanced controls: bokeh, light ranges/highlights, adding grain/noise to blend the blur, and troubleshooting halos/edges Finishing workflow: masking blur for precision, refining edges, and saving reusable variations
Outcome: a repeatable blur workflow you can use for creative motion effects, cinematic depth, and polished, professional results.
